A girl of the Earth Kingdom who comes from the aristocratic Bei Fong family. She was born blind, but can sense the movements of others through Earthbending. She ran away from home to instruct Aang in Earthbending. She greatly enjoys boasting about her skills and feels at home upon a soft patch of dirt. Being on who waits and listens to the environments around her, she is also very insightful an can give good advice an see the bigger picture. She is also the first to discover the ability to Bend Metal, having found the ability to see the fragments of earth in the ore. After the war ended, she founded a school for Metalbending which, needless to say, became quite popular.

Several years later, she became a founding member of Republic City and the chief of its Police force. Her daughter, Lin, would eventually succeed this role.
