Rivalry by Dark Side of the Moon

A picture I wanted to draw as to both commemorate Sonic Adventure 2's return to HD Format on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network, as well as kick off a series of "Sonic Rivals" pictures I plan to do more of in the future.

To properly celebrate SA2's rerelease, I might fill this massive gap beneath the two Hedgehogs with the other player characters, but that might be a good long while from now if I decide to go through with it.

As for the Rivalry picture on its own, I wanted to make this similar to their midair standoff from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's opening sequence (as well as the boss fight in Generations it inspired) but make the posing of the characters look a little more proper for the occasion, where the prior two images look a tad clumsy in their posing (to me at least). The shading of the moon's present phase, I'm proud of, but the attempt at the craters, not so much.

The framing was done in graphite pencil, the outlining in Pen, the colors in Color Pencils, and the half-value shading, yet again, in graphite. I shaded some parts of Shadow with pen as well, since he's already black in color, and the ink is much thicker than the pencil I used.
