A Tadpole Pokemon, Poliwhirl gains better walking and swimming abilities upon evolution from Poliwag, and is able to live on land, but prefers the water, where it's safe. Poliwhirl's body is always slick and oily, allowing it to slip away from enemies in battle. It uses the spiral on its belly to make enemies fall asleep, and using its glove-like hands, it can slap enemies silly. Poliwhirl evolves into Poliwrath by touching a Water Stone, or into Politoed by being traded while holding a King's Rock.

Poliwhirl appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a collectible Trophy.
